There are a lot of things that you could do for Halloween in Orlando, but one of the best places to visit is Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Orlando in 2020 (#HHN30). There are a bunch of reasons why.
Let’s look at this exciting event in detail and find out just why everyone in Orlando – from the locals to the tourists – are flocking towards this Halloween staple.
What is Halloween Horror Nights?
Halloween Horror Nights is a horror festival that will be entering its 28th year, held at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. This is one of the nation’s largest, and most anticipated, Halloween events that everyone should visit.
It has plenty of pulse-pounding and terrifying attractions ready to keep you screaming all throughout the night. During the day, you can experience all that the Universal Orlando theme park has to offer, but when night falls you definitely need to watch out because there are plenty of scares on the menu.
This year, Universal Studios Orlando comes alive with all manner of mutants, monsters and terrifying creatures; getting you immersed in the world of horror. With 27 years of experience, there is no one better equipped to give you the scares of your life and make your Halloween a memorable one.
If you are going to be in Orlando for Halloween, then this is definitely an event that you’ll want to visit, with truly original scares, haunted houses like you have never seen before and incredibly detailed scare areas throughout the park that will make even the most jaded skeptic scream in fear. Plus, there are all kinds of live shows, vendors, and other events going on. This is one huge celebration.
What to Expect
This year, you can expect to see all of the previous 27 years outdone. Halloween Horror Nights 2020 lasts for an amazing 34 nights. It starts on Friday, September 14 and runs all the way to Saturday, November 3. That’s the longest running event in history (tied).
According to the staff at Universal Orlando, this years event is going to be the best ever. There are going to be more intense scares and events than ever before. There are no less than nine all-new haunted houses and five scare zones.
Guests will have to gather up their courage and be brave if they want to make it through these areas with their pride intact.
What is the Theme This Year?
The theme this year is ‘Horrors inspired by the ‘80’s’. What that means is that you will be experiencing the same exact fears that you had when watching those horror movies on TV during the 1980s.
If you were born before the 80’s, or if you were unlucky enough to be born after, then you are in for a treat because the 80’s was the first time that horror came to roost on television and in the movie theater.
This is probably going to be the best theme that this Halloween inspired event has ever had. Make sure that you are there for ‘Horrors inspired by the ‘80’s’ because it is going to be pretty amazing.
The Haunted Houses
The haunted houses are always an amazing staple of the Universal Orlando Halloween festival and this year will be no different. There are lots of haunted houses out there, but we are going to concentrate on just four of them because each of the newest and the scariest haunted houses are the best that Universal Studios Orlando has to offer.
If you’ve been to a haunted house, especially a bad one, then you might be a little jaded. But until you experience a haunted house at Universal Studios Orlando, reserve your judgment because you haven’t been scared until you’ve been scared at Universal Studios.
Stranger Things: The Stranger Things haunted house is based upon one of the biggest television franchises in horror. If you love the show, then you are definitely going to love this haunted house. Experience the Upside Down in pure 1980s cinema magic with this haunted house, showing you all of the terrors from the show and giving you everything you loved from your favorite episodes.
Dead Exposure: Patient Zero: This is another great haunted house that you should be aware of. Universal Studios announced this haunting long before the regular announcements, which went against years of tradition, but there was a good reason for it. This is the prequel to the Dead Exposure event from Halloween Horror Nights 2008, and anyone who attended that year should do whatever it takes to get down to Orlando to experience this event.
Trick ‘r Treat: You will love all of the movie magic that goes into making this haunted house. It has all of the terrifying scares from the movie, advancing guests through each of the movie storylines and employing a great deal of special-effects to transform innocent looking girls into bloodthirsty werewolves.
Slaughter Sinema: Finally, Slaughter Sinema is indicative of Universal Studios Orlando’s propensity to alternate between licensed haunted houses like “Stranger Things” in their own amazing, creative and unique creations that will scare the pants off of you because you have no idea what to expect. Even though these are pretty campy – after all was the 80’s – you are still going to get enough scares to make your Halloween worth it.
The Scare Zones
Besides the haunted houses, there are several scare zones at Universal Studios Orlando that you will want to visit. These are basically outdoor haunted houses, but since they are outdoors, they are a lot scarier than your average haunted house. Let’s take a look at three of the best ones this year.
The Harvest: The Harvest is definitely one of the front runners when it comes to 2020. This scare zone will lead visitors into a terrifying barn that is outfitted with props and images from all of the haunted houses around the park, each of which is going to be populated by foul creatures that are looking for a harvest of human flesh.
Vamp ’85: New Year’s Eve: Vamp ’85 fits right in with the rest of the 1980s horror theme, and if you’ve never been scared of vampires before, you will be after this. These are some of the scariest vampires that you’ve ever encountered and they are all celebrating the blood that they will be sucking on New Year’s Eve.
Twisted Tradition: Twisted Tradition is one of the final scares to be discussed, and it is the obligatory jack-o’-lantern scares that has become a staple of the park. But this year, things are going to be different and a whole lot scarier. You do not want to miss this attraction.
Live Stage Shows
There are also going to be lots of stage shows that you will love visiting and checking out during your Halloween trip to Orlando. For 27 years, Universal Studios Orlando has been bringing you the best in live music and this year is not going to be an exception to that.
These live shows will make you laugh, make you want to rock out and entertain you in ways that you never thought possible. These are the perfect complement to a perfect Halloween at Universal Studios Orlando. You will love the acts that they have been able to attract for this year’s event.
